Education

Education is the only asset, whenever it is given to others its net value just keeps on increasing day by day. Education is the key to personal, mental and financial forms of higher development. But why do people spend endless years in school to be rich? Or to be comfortable? To afford nice things or to have Dr. or Esq. at the end or beginning of their names? To spend 11 hours in an office or 12 hours in a hospital to become rich and not even wealthy. To take out thousands of rupees in student loans only to end up using your degree to pay it back. Over the years there has been quite a shift in the perception of education.

When has education become a means of trying to get rich. Society, media and family members tell us that if we want to be well off, we need to get an education. If we want to be rich or comfortable, we need an education. There are thousands of ways to get rich and even wealthy without making 12 hour rounds in a hospital or 10 hour days writing briefs. Do not get me misunderstood, education is a better alternative than other choices in a means to become rich, but that is not its sole purpose.

Education is not a means to make money; as a matter of fact it is the end result. Educational institutions are money making machines. They too involve themselves in effective public relations, advertising and "BRANDING." Just like how women rather have Gucci over Kenneth Cole, some rather have Princeton over Rutgers. The point that I am trying to make is that the more people equate education with making money the more we loose sight of its real meaning

Education is supposed to give you the tools, skills and knowledge to be an effective citizen. To use your degree as a means to change the world. To fore go the ego boosters that comes with your suffixes (which is different than being proud of yourself). To use your degree and professional position to benefit something higher than yourself while still making money.

We need to re-evaluate our position as students and hope that the only thing we do not graduate with is loans and a new job. Some might be quite satisfied and content with that. But we need more students who graduate as better human beings, knowing the depths of their determination and hard work and turning that into creative innovations and ideas ways that will yield wealth while making a difference and if this is done...the price of education is well worth it.

Be a good friend of yourself

First thing which everyone must know is to be a good friend of ourself. Most people desire good company. They desire friends, people in whom they can trust and share commonalities with. Many of us are blessed to have great support networks as well as good friends, a blessing indeed. But, many of us have had our share of good and bad apples that fell from the tree. We've spent months, years and maybe seasons sharing our lives with people. The most important thing I learned through all of my experiences is that, everything happens for a reason.

People come into your lives for many reasons. Some to help you, others to learn from you, some to hold you back and others to push you forward. One must recognize that not all friends serve the same purpose. Some are just there to go to events with, some are there to study with, others are there to pray with and really talk about serious issues with, some are there to gossip, or go shopping with and some are there to build futures with. This is life, we cannot expect everyone to meet us at all the points of our needs.

One important thing I also learned is to be good friends with yourselves. Be the type of friend you dreamed to have. The type of friend that has all the qualities to make it with you to the mountaintops. We as women should not expect others to treat us in ways we cannot treat ourselves and those around us. For me conversing is great, always keeping in contact is a plus and being good to people tops the list. But, I am always selective and aware of those that I keep around me. I welcome all, but some get further than others for different reasons. I have a great support network and have been blessed to experience the good and bad of friendships.

In the end, one must be their own best friend and depend on God to supply you with your own support network and friends. And learn to appreciate those who open their lives and hearts out to you. Remember, while being a good friend to yourself, do not push people away. Remain open and willing to create, mend and build new relationships.

Learn Yourself

One of the best Professors I ever had said to the class, "You are your project, work on you." There are two projects in life that we should pursue or unconsciously are already in pursuit of is the project of constantly investing and improving our selves and the project of building our empires. The project of working on oneself to the point of excellence is a choice that I a faithful advocate of. The project of constant self-improvement and learning who you are as a person can never be a futile pursuit. This is in essence a life-long project but with constant reflection, you will accomplish a lot more in less time.

While we work on ourselves, so that we can continue to become a better person we in turn add to the welfare and up liftment of society while reaching the apex of personal development. These pursuits tend to produce persons who are well-balanced, have an appreciation of all cultures, religions, arts, and personalities, and those who achieve great accomplishments that directly benefit communities.

It would not be a bad idea to view our lives as case studies or research projects. To see what happens if we decide to invest in building intelligence than making money. Or invest in finding ways to be empathetic. And to see how these pursuits can alter your mindset and behavior. I believe its results will be quite interesting and beneficial to all.

ADVERSITY

Wow lord thank you for the adversity we have.We may not say it when we are going through it but lets thank Him for it. Because it was the presence of adversity that made us wiser, stronger, and more appreciative. The devil thought that if he threw adversity in your way, that it would downsize you and your blessing...but he was wrong. Out of pain, great power is produced. It is out of severe heartache extreme joy is truly experienced.

So, I thank God for every adversity. Didn't Nelson Mandela spend 27 years in jail before becoming the President of South Africa. Wasn't it Oprah Winfrey who was raped and abused before becoming one of the richest and most influential women in the world. Wasn't it Maya Angelou who was molested as child before becoming one of the most praised poets in the world. Wasn't is Elie Wiesel who went through the horrors of the Holocaust before winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his powerful literature. So you see, out of the depths of pain, heartache and failure God will use you and uplift you.

It is your story that will reach millions of people. Every successful person has a great story to tell. The experiences that you have went through had to come to pass in order to get you to your next level. Because you went through pain you will be able to sympathize with others, because you were in debt you will understand how good it feels to be rich, because you were gravely sick in the hospital you now appreciate what it means to have good health. So you see, we should thank God for adversity and let the devil know everything bad that has happened in our lives will work out for our own good.

Indian Team for Bangladesh Series

Sachin Tendulkar was rested while pacemen Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar were on Friday dropped from India's 16-member squad for next month's Tri-series in Bangladesh.

Temperamental speedster S Sreesanth, who missed the ODI series against Sri Lanka because of swine flu, and Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda were included in the ODI squad for the Tri-series announced by the BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan after a selection committee meeting here.

Ishant, who has been in poor form in recent times, was not only axed from the Tri-series squad but was also not included in the team for the fifth and final ODI against Sri Lanka here on Sunday.

Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha was also left out of the Tri-series squad with the national selectors preferring leg spinner Amit Mishra to share the spin bowling responsibilities with Harbhajan Singh.

Dashing left-hander Yuvraj Singh, who only played one match in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, has been named in the Tri-series squad which has no new face.

"Sachin Tendulkar desired to be rested for the Tri-series at Bangladesh. He will play the Tests against Bangladesh," Srinivasan said in a BCCI press release issued tonight.

Virender Sehwag, who led India when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was unavailable following the two-match suspension for slow over-rate, has been named vice-captain of the Tri-series squad.

Rohit Sharma, who figured in India's Twenty20 squad, has also been recalled for the Tri-series in Dhaka from January 4-13.

Apart from India, hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the two other teams.

The Tri-series will be followed by a two-match Test series in Chittagong (Jan 17-21) and Dhaka (Jan 24-28).

The team to be captained by Dhoni has six specialist batsmen, two specialist spinners and five pacemen. It has one all-rounder in Ravindra Jadeja who has been quite effective as left-arm spinner and two wicketkeepers in captain Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik.

In the absence of Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir is likely to open the innings with his Delhi teammate Sehwag while it will be interesting to see who bats at the crucial number three position.

Zaheer Khan will spearhead the pace attack which also has Ashish Nehra and Sreesanth besides the two two rookies Sudip Tyagi and Ashok Dinda.

Squad for the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka:

MS Dhoni (Captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Sudeep Tyagi, Dinesh Karthik, S Sreesanth, Ashok Dinda, Pragyan Ojha.

Sqaud for the Tri-series: MS Dhoni (Captain), Virender Sehwag (Vice-Captain), Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh, Sudeep Tyagi, Dinesh Karthik, S Sreesanth, Ashok Dinda, Amit Mishra.

Ganguly praises cool Gambhir

India's most consistent batsman in recent times, is ex-captain Sourav Ganguly.
Gambhir completed his 3000 runs in One-day cricket on Thursday en route to his unbeaten 150 in the fourth match, which helped India seal the five-match series.

"Gambhir has been improving a lot. Gambhir is a cool headed guy. He has been scoring runs and he is getting them consistently," Ganguly said.
Ganguly is impressed by the temperament of the Delhi dasher.

Watching the India-Sri Lanka day night proceedings with wife Dona and daughter Sana from at Eden Gardens, for Ganguly it was for the first time after his international retirement that India played at his home venue.
Asked whether he missed the on-field action, Ganguly said, "Not at all. I am enjoying my life."
A charismatic leader during his time, Ganguly said his retirement decision was correct as the battle of making a comeback and getting dropped again and again was becoming tough.
"It was getting enough. Making a comeback everytime after getting dropped. How many more times would I have fought to make my way into the side? This battle was getting tough.
"There is a limit to it," he said.
Ganguly also felt that dew played a role in Sri Lanka's defeat, saying," The balls skid as it becomes difficult for bowlers to control the ball. I knew it would be easier to bat second.

India won the ODI series against Srilanka

Centuries from Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli helped India defeat Sri Lanka by seven wickets to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.

Gambhir revealed being dismissed cheaply in the previous matches spurred him on to a good knock in the fourth onedayer against SL.

Gambhir scored an unbeaten 150 as India surpassed Sri Lanka's total of 315 for six with just under two overs to spare.
The left-hander added 224 for the third wicket with Virat Kohli (107), who made his maiden ODI century.
Gambhir was run out cheaply in the second ODI and made 32 in the last match, but was pleased with his effort at Eden Gardens.
"I was pretty unfortunate in the last couple of innings but once I crossed the half-century mark here, I kept telling myself to keep going," he said.
"It was important to win this series and I am happy I played a good knock. It was important to build a partnership because we always knew the dew would be a factor on this ground.

The Lady of night

The wall in a dirty public urinal,
Plaster peeling,
Mouldy green fungus in its damp spots,
A smell of abuse by unknown men
Settling heavy in the puddles of pee around it,
Garbage of the mind strewn across
In crude graffiti and filthy sketches,
That wall is my body,
The body of the lady of the night.

My corpse stalks the night,
Its shadows permit others to believe
My cheeks still are rosy red,
My face yet unlined by a web of lines,
My flesh still firm, my breasts proud.
I dread the day, its bright light
Reveals the crumpled sheeets on my bed,
Across my pillows strange oily strands of hair,
Dark rings under my tired eyes,
The purple patch on my peeled off face,
The face of the lady of the night.

With the soiled notes clutched in my hands,
Forever damp with the sweat of the night,
For my daughter a dawn I try to buy,
Brick by brick,
Thrust by thrust,
Heave by heave,
Grunt by grunt,
While every morning I stand in the shower,
Trying to scrub off the stains on my body,
Till my skin is peeled and the flesh is chafed,
The stains run deeper and I scrub on and on,
Till there is nothing left of me anymore,
Except a bleeding, gaping hole
Streching infinitely between my legs,
This is what I have exchanged for a soul,
The soul of the lady of the night.

some favourite lines from YEATS

O sweet everlasting Voices, be still;
Go to the guards of the heavenly fold
And bid them wander obeying your will,
Flame under flame, till Time be no more;
Have you not heard that our hearts are old,
That you call in birds, in wind on the hill,
In shaken boughs, in tide on the shore?
O sweet everlasting Voices, be still.

Life is really so beautiful...it's depend to persion to persion how he takes the life..life is full of challenges it give us apportunity to do something best in our life and make our life b'ful .in life sadness n happiness is like a part of a one coin..so always b positive and be happy in whatever u have and always try to get better in life.. whenver u feel sad or depress tht life gives u nothing always see the people who hve less then u......then u fell the real value ..that what u have..it make u happy n satisfy ...it also totally depends on da approach...da way a person luks upto da life...lifez indeed a divine gift bestowed to us by allmighty..we must hv a +ve attitude n faith in ourselves wid equal optimism to make most of it.so live each and every moment of life by this u can make ur life b'ful..

Really life is a beautiful thing which has to be utilized in a good way. We must have the intention of helping others while we were helped by others(Parents). Once, you have a practise of helping orphans and handicaps, you can understand there problem and could realize how gifted we are with healthy life. So, everyday have a smile in your face and cheer up others also.It also depends upon person to person.it is how we handle the situation in our life.Life can be curse for those who thinks so.it entirely depends on our thinking.
a drug addict can make his life a hell or a heaven.it depents upon him/her.he can make his life beautiful by leaving drugs and can make his life hell by getting addicted to this poision.
life can be good for the students if they study hard and never lose heart.also it can be hell to him if he indulge himself in evil practices like cheating, leaking papers etc.
so god has given everyone this precious life and ask us to choose our own path so it is upto u how u take and live your life.

A Silent Scream

My dreams are troubled, they yearn for you,
As the misty night silently passes through,
Like a rudderless ship my whispers stray,
And my sighs congeal to form the milky way.

The sickle-thin moon slices in two my heart,
The blood seeps out from my eyes red-cast,
It colours the shadows a deep henna-red,
Flame drowned in tears, my lamp lies dead.

The demon sky with tentacles that float,
Crushes my chest and smothers my throat,
I sit up coughing, my lungs fight for air,
As the dark prepares to take me in its care.

Perhaps my eyes will never see the light,
Perhaps I shall fail to survive this night,
For you remain lost, even to my dream,
And all that remains is my silent scream.

Good Morning

Let me love you for a while says the flower
And brighten up my smile with yours
Today the hen called you, still you sleepy dear
Or are the dreams shutting your eye lid doors?

Let me then wish you awhile says the bird
And assume you are unaware of my wait
You had promised me a kiss as my reward
Or someone's kiss in your dreams makes you late?

Let me cover you from the sun says the tree
Just enough to shade you, not feel its still night
Now even my leaves ape your hair, so curly
And tease a thousand ways to move you upright

The flowers, birds and trees are far and I'm near
And true, you sleep pretty wearing that smile
I can keep watching you like this dear,
But can you give a morning hug for a while?

Think not

Think not your love is perfect, not until it fulfills
It sees sans eyes,
It hears sans ears,
It touches sans touch,
It feels with a heart,
It stands face to face with divine glory and speaks sans tongue,
It obeys no law. When law becomes your innate desire,
Think then your love as perfect

Are you the one i am in love with?

The mystery remains within me
Are you the one i'm in love with?
You make me smile
And the other moment I have tears in my eyes.
One moment u make me feel wanted
And the other moment I feel you to be so indifferent.
This feeling gives me a tang of pain,
Still my feelings for you remain all the same.
Last night I saw a dream
You were there standing with all the gleam
Like a star shining up in the sky
Which can't be reached, no matter how hard I try!
They say Times change, people change
then why do my feelings for you remain the same?
I have seen you change
And this encourages me to change with your change.
Alas, you matter to me all the same.
Missing you is pleasure,
Missing you is pain
But it's the tender feeling for you that helps me sustain.
What is this feeling I don't know
But you are the one who makes me glow.
This relationship we share,
What you want to call it
I don't care.
I don't want to name it
I just know you are among the best things
That ever happened to me.
But tell me something
Are you the one I'm in love with???

Best of 2009 . FEDERER , WILLIAMS

Roger Federer and Serena Williams have been named as the 2009 world champions by the International Tennis Federation.

Federer claims the honour for the fifth time, while Williams wins it for the second.
The award caps a memorable year for Federer, who during it won the French Open and Wimbledon titles - completing a career Grand Slam and surpassing Pete Sampras' record of Grand Slam singles titles in the process.

The Swiss, who was also runner-up at the Australian and US Opens, said: "It is an honour for me to be named ITF world champion for a fifth time.

"It was an incredible year for me both on and off the court. To win my first Roland Garros title, break the all-time Grand Slam record and regain the number one ranking is amazing. It means a lot to me to finish the year again at the top."
Meanwhile, women's world number one Williams adds the title to the one she claimed in 2002.

She won the Australian Open and Wimbledon crowns during the year, as well capturing the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in Qatar.
In fact there was double delight for Williams who was also named as world doubles champion, alongside her sister, Venus.

The siblings won three of the four Grand Slam titles in 2009, missing out only at the French Open, taking their career total to 10 Grand Slam doubles triumphs
Serena becomes the first player since Martina Hingis in 1999 to win both the singles and doubles world champion awards.
American twins Bob and Mike Bryan were named men's doubles world champions for a record sixth time, while Swede Daniel Berta and France's Kristina Mladenovic claimed the junior awards.

ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti said: "This has been another memorable year for tennis, with some outstanding performances by our world champions. Roger Federer has truly earned his place in the history books, while the Williams sisters remain the strongest competitors on the women's tour."
The awards will be handed out at the ITF World Champions Dinner, which takes place in Paris on June 1 during the French Open.

The old lady in the moon

Lying under a million stars,
Feeling small, alone, forlorn,
It was the old lady in the moon
Who winked at me smiling a toothless smile,
And drew me up by the strands
Of stories weaved by her
On her spinning yarn.
Sleeping in her lap I forgot
The frayed collar of my school shirt,
My trousers an inch too short,
And I dreamt,
Of the sparkling strands of stories,
Each coloured with a million hues,
Reflecting moonbeams, entwining, separating,
Coming together at last,
In a sea of stories on the other side of the moon.

Some years intervened, and I understood
Why no one would share his tiffin with me,
Day by day, I had only dry bread to offer after all,
I also realised the wrinkles on the lady's face
Were only craters, and her spinning wheel
Just some hill
On a desolate landscape
Where no sea could ever be,
That was the time I started dreaming
In black and white and shades of gray.

So many years have passed by,
Soon enough there will be wrinkles on my face,
My hair will turn whiter than the old lady's,
And my stories reflect
Jagged shards of broken dreams,
Gray and colourless.
More and more often I wonder
Of the fate of the old lady,
And her sparkling sea of stories.

My eyes will cloud with cataract,
My vision will dim, my world blurred,
Perhaps then I will see again
Dreams in the lap of the old lady,
Who perhaps might still be spinning her web,
There might really be a sea perhaps,
On that face of the moon unseen by men.
